DEVRİM ERBİL × ÖZİPEK
Abstract Composition (Soyut Kompozisyon)
Abstract Composition is the point where form dissolves and essence remains.
In this work, Devrim Erbil reaches the furthest edge of abstraction — a space where the visible world no longer exists as subject, but as memory. There is no city, no horizon, no identifiable structure. Instead, the composition is built entirely from rhythm, repetition, and movement. What remains is pure visual consciousness.
Thousands of short, luminous strokes float against a deep, almost infinite black ground. Golds, silvers, and muted turquoises shimmer like fragments of light suspended in darkness. The surface feels both expansive and intimate — as if the viewer is witnessing a moment where matter breaks into energy.
This work reflects one of Erbil’s most philosophical approaches. Here, line is not descriptive but meditative. Repetition becomes a form of contemplation, echoing ideas of infinity, continuity, and time without beginning or end. The vertical density at the lower edge grounds the composition, while the upper field dissolves into an almost cosmic movement.
Translating such a refined abstraction into silk is an act of extreme precision. Özipek’s weaving transforms Erbil’s painterly fragments into a tactile field of light. Each knot captures direction, spacing, and silence. As the silk surface interacts with light, the composition subtly shifts — never static, never fully revealed at once.
This piece stands as one of the most sophisticated results of the Devrim Erbil × Özipek collaboration. It is neither painting nor textile alone, but a synthesis where contemporary abstraction meets centuries-old craftsmanship.
Abstract Composition does not ask to be understood.
It asks to be experienced.
This is an artwork for collectors who value depth over narrative, presence over representation — and who recognize abstraction as one of the highest forms of artistic maturity.
